The clarification was made through Uphold’s official X account in response to Crypto Eri, a well-known figure in the XRP community, who raised concerns about a report claiming that McLoughlin had forecasted a $10K value for XRP.
Uphold firmly stated that the assertion of XRP reaching $10,000, attributed to its CEO, is completely untrue. The exchange emphasized that McLoughlin did not make such a prediction for any asset and would not make similar predictions in the future.
The origin of the claim can be traced back to Robert Doyle, also known as “Crypto Sensei,” who repeatedly suggested in his analyses that XRP could potentially hit $10,000. Despite referencing McLoughlin’s statement about Ripple and Uphold’s partnership, where Uphold serves as Ripple’s payout partner for treasury payments, Doyle failed to provide any concrete evidence to support his bold claim.
After Doyle’s assertions gained traction, crypto journalist Scott Matherson further perpetuated the $10,000 prediction in an article, adding to the misinformation surrounding McLoughlin’s alleged forecast.
In light of Uphold’s clear denial of these claims, Crypto Eri has urged the exchange to take action to remove such misleading content from public platforms. This call comes as other YouTubers have also spread the false narrative, necessitating a push for more accurate information in the crypto space.
