Vitalik Buterin, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, has been causing a stir in the cryptocurrency community due to his recent high-profile transactions. People have been speculating and discussing the increased activity in his Ethereum address. Today, Buterin’s wallet made a significant transfer of 3,000 ETH, which is valued at approximately $8.05 million, to a multi-signature wallet.
According to Lookonchain, a crypto surveillance platform, this transaction could potentially be a donation, although there are different interpretations. Some argue that since all three signatories of the receiving wallet are connected to Buterin, it could be an internal reallocation rather than an outward donation.
After this transaction, the receiving wallet now holds 3,000 ETH, which is worth $7,907,204 based on the current price of Ethereum at $2,635 per ETH. The wallet also contains a small amount of other tokens valued at $118.02. Interestingly, Buterin’s address continued to be active and later transferred 199.9 ETH, approximately worth $521,469.37, to a different address.
It’s worth noting that on August 5, a wallet called “Vb 3” transferred 3,000 ETH, which is around $7 million, to Buterin’s wallet. At that time, Buterin already had 245,223 ETH, which was equivalent to $571.72 million.
These recent transactions are part of a pattern of large Ethereum movements. “Vb 3” had previously transferred 1,001 ETH 184 days ago and 6,000 ETH 571 days ago, both of which were linked to Buterin’s address. This suggests a series of strategically timed transfers.
In a separate event, Buterin conducted a significant sale of Neiro tokens. His wallet sold 17.15 billion Neiro in exchange for 44.53 ETH, which is valued at approximately $112,448, on Uniswap V2. This sale initially caused a dip in Neiro’s value, but the market quickly rebounded with a 15% surge.
The Neiro team publicly responded to the sale and suggested that Buterin consider donating part of the proceeds to a stray dog shelter. They clarified that the distribution of Neiro tokens to Buterin was not an endorsement but rather a decision made by the original developer, who has since left the project.
