Renowned cryptocurrency expert Ben “BitBoy” Armstrong has made a bold prediction, stating that XRP will surpass Ethereum as the second most prominent cryptocurrency after Bitcoin.
In his latest commentary on XRP and Ethereum, which he shared on Monday, BitBoy asserted that XRP’s rise to prominence will occur when its value skyrockets to between $16 and $22.
BitBoy explained that there has been ongoing debate about which Layer-1 token will overtake Ethereum by 2025. However, he expressed confidence that Solana (SOL), the closest competitor to ETH in terms of market cap, will not be the one to achieve this feat. Instead, he believes that XRP will claim the number 2 spot by 2025.
BitBoy reminded his followers that XRP had previously surpassed Ethereum in 2018, and he now believes that history will repeat itself. He emphasized that XRP is not in direct competition with Ethereum, as they serve different sectors within the broader crypto revolution.
According to BitBoy, Ethereum will face competition in its own space, particularly in the realm of smart contracts. He argues that ETH will struggle during the current bull run due to intense rivalry in this area.
BitBoy believes that Bitcoin and XRP are the leading crypto assets with no competition for their positions in the market. He stated that XRP is the preferred choice for liquidity across borders and that no other asset can rival it in the next bull run.
To “flip” Ethereum, BitBoy pointed out that XRP would need to rally by up to 3,000% this season. Currently, XRP has a market cap of $30.84 billion and a floor price of $0.5439, while Ethereum’s market cap is over ten times larger at $319 billion.
If XRP experiences a 30x surge, as BitBoy projected, its price would reach $16.8, resulting in a market cap of approximately $956 billion. However, BitBoy’s lowest estimate is $16, as he expects XRP to potentially rise as high as $22, which would elevate its market cap to approximately $1.2 trillion.
BitBoy believes that factors such as banking partnerships, XRP ETFs, Ripple’s IPO, and BRICS adoption will support these high valuations. He confidently stated that it is not a matter of if, but when, XRP will surpass Ethereum and shock the world.
However, it’s important to note that XRP’s price action during the current bull run has been weaker compared to Ethereum’s. Ethereum has seen a year-to-date gain of 16%, while XRP has experienced a negative figure of 11.4%.
In the first quarter, Ethereum came close to reclaiming its 2021 all-time high, surpassing the $4,000 level. On the other hand, XRP has failed to even reach $1, let alone its six-year-old all-time high of $3.84.
BitBoy’s suggestion that Ethereum will remain stagnant while XRP rallies by over 3,000% is highly speculative.
