Crypto.com has expanded its support for Shiba Inu by enabling users to load their Visa Cards with SHIB.
In a recent email to customers, Crypto.com announced the new feature. The exchange also took to Twitter to share the news, informing users that they can now fund their Visa Cards with SHIB.
Apart from Shiba Inu, Crypto.com offers support for over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
The service is available in all jurisdictions where Crypto.com operates its card program, including Europe and the United Kingdom. Funding a Crypto.com Visa Card is a simple process.
Users can visit the ‘Card’ page on their mobile app, click ‘Top Up,’ choose SHIB or any other supported crypto as a payment method, input the top-up amount, and confirm the transaction.
The integration of SHIB as a payment method for Crypto.com’s Visa Card funding is a significant milestone for the asset and its community. This allows Crypto.com customers to use SHIB for everyday transactions, potentially increasing its utility and value.
The move also signifies Shiba Inu’s growing integration into the mainstream financial ecosystem, helping it move away from its memecoin status.
Since officially listing SHIB in March 2022, Crypto.com has continuously expanded its support for the token, including adding new trading pairs and launching reward programs featuring SHIB.
Earlier this year, the exchange promoted the dog-themed token on Google Play Store and App Store, and also facilitated large SHIB purchases.
In April, a user withdrew 692.4 billion SHIB from Crypto.com, indicating significant acquisition of the tokens and their transfer out of the exchange for long-term holding.
Additionally, Crypto.com users have helped reduce Shiba Inu’s circulating supply by transferring SHIB from the exchange to the official dead wallet. Last year, a user sent nearly 35 million SHIB to the dead wallet, permanently removing the tokens from circulation.
