Marc Fagel, a legal expert and former SEC official, has addressed the speculation surrounding the cancellation of the SEC’s Sunshine Act meeting. Fagel clarifies that the cancellation is not related to Ripple and is a common occurrence for routine reasons.
The XRP community has been discussing the recently passed Deploying American Blockchains Act of 2023, which designates the Secretary of the Department of Commerce as the principal advisor to the president for blockchain-related policies. Some community members believe that this bill will diminish the SEC’s authority over the Ripple lawsuit.
In response to these speculations, Fagel asserts that the cancellation of the Sunshine Act meeting has no connection to Ripple. He explains that these meetings are held regularly throughout the year and are occasionally canceled for routine purposes. Fagel draws on his personal experience attending these meetings during his time at the SEC.
Last week, the SEC sent out a notice informing officials that the Sunshine Act meeting scheduled for May 23 has been canceled. This has led to further speculation within the XRP community regarding a potential settlement in the Ripple lawsuit.
However, the lawsuit has yet to be resolved through a settlement, and experts predict that the final verdict may be reached before the end of the year. The crypto community eagerly awaits the outcome of this case.
