Title: Allegations of Donald Trump Holding XRP Tokens Under Scrutiny
A recent claim made by members of the XRP community suggests that Donald Trump, the U.S. presidential candidate, may be in possession of a significant amount of XRP tokens. This revelation comes in light of Trump’s growing crypto asset portfolio, which has amassed millions of dollars in recent months.
As of May 27, Trump’s crypto wallet, as reported by Arkham Intelligence, was valued at over $10.14 million. The wallet saw a substantial increase in value due to the TRUMP meme coin, which is Trump’s largest holding, taking advantage of the recent bullish market trend.
In response to this claim, an XRP community member known as “Matze XRP” presented a screenshot of an XRP wallet named “TrumpProductions,” suggesting that the Republican presidential candidate indeed possesses XRP. However, it is crucial to note that the wallet name alone does not serve as concrete proof of ownership, as XRP wallet names can be freely chosen by anyone.
Esteemed individuals within the XRP community, including the XRP Ledger validator Vet, have emphasized this point. Similar situations have occurred before, such as when rumors circulated that Elon Musk was “testing” XRP payments for his social media platform X. The XRPL validator clarified that the labeling of accounts on wallet services is unofficial, highlighting the ease with which public figures’ names can be misleadingly associated with wallets for manipulative purposes.
To combat fraudulent identities, the XRPL developer community is actively working on resolving this issue. Vet has confirmed that the incoming Decentralized Identifier (DID) amendment aims to address this problem. Currently, the amendment has garnered 34.29% consensus among validators, but it requires an 80% majority for adoption.
According to Arkham Intelligence data, Donald Trump’s crypto holdings primarily consist of meme-based assets, often received as campaign donations. Trump has expressed his support for cryptocurrencies, stating that his administration would be crypto-friendly if he were elected president. His holdings include 579,000 TRUMP meme coins valued at $6.9 million, 464.3 Ethereum tokens worth $1.8 million, as well as other meme coins like CONAN and BABYTRUMP, with values exceeding $100K.
