Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple Labs, provided an update on the expected timing of the final verdict in the SEC lawsuit by U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres.
Speaking at the XRP Ledger Apex 2024 conference, Garlinghouse expressed optimism about a resolution in the lawsuit soon. He mentioned that the judge will determine the timeline for the final verdict.
Garlinghouse estimated that Judge Torres might issue the final verdict before the end of summer 2024. He clarified that summer could extend until September 21, marking the astronomical end of the season.
“We have no control over the final resolution outcome; the judge will decide when she decides. I believe it will be before the end of summer. When asked if summer ends in August, I pointed out that September 21st marks the end of summer,” Garlinghouse stated.
Expressing frustration with the SEC’s decision to target XRP ahead of other cryptocurrencies, Garlinghouse questioned the motive behind the move.
“Why did the SEC go after XRP ‘first’?” Garlinghouse questioned.
Garlinghouse remains hopeful that the long-standing legal battle is nearing conclusion, projecting a final verdict before September 21. Previous predictions regarding the end date of the SEC lawsuit have been made by Garlinghouse, with varying timelines.
The complexity of the SEC v. Ripple lawsuit makes it challenging to accurately predict the timeline for the final resolution. However, experts following the case anticipate the court will issue the final verdict this year.
The delay in the final verdict is attributed to the ruling on whether SEC’s Andrea Fox is an expert or summary witness. The court’s decision on this matter will significantly impact the case’s outcome.
While there is no official date set for the final verdict, it is advised for readers to conduct thorough research before making any investment decisions. The opinions expressed in this article are the author’s personal views and do not reflect The Crypto Basic’s opinion.
