Dogecoin May Hit $1, But Here’s Why Shiba Inu Never Will
January 4, 2025
While Dogecoin is preparing to reach the $1 price level this year, it is highly unlikely that Shiba Inu will ever achieve a similar milestone, at least not in the next few decades.
Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are the two most prominent altcoins in the market, with valuations in the multi-billion-dollar range. However, both coins had humble beginnings before reaching their current positions.
For example, ten years ago, Dogecoin traded at a historic low of $0.00008547, with four leading zeros. Today, Dogecoin is trading at $0.3837, a staggering increase of 450,694% from its all-time low.
Shiba Inu, Dogecoin’s closest rival, also has an impressive record. According to CoinMarketCap data, four years ago, Shiba Inu traded at an all-time low with ten leading zeros. Today, it has eliminated six zeros and is trading at $0.00002427, representing a remarkable increase of 29,848,442% from its historic bottom.
As the bull market of 2025 gains momentum, both Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are preparing for even more significant price milestones.
Dogecoin’s Case as it Approaches $1
Dogecoin is on the verge of breaking the $1 threshold. Many believe this is attainable in the next few weeks, but there is considerable skepticism surrounding Shiba Inu’s potential to ever reach $1.
To break the $1 barrier, Dogecoin needs to appreciate by 161%. On the other hand, Shiba Inu would need to grow by over 4,120,213% to reach $1. This extremely high growth requirement significantly extends the timeline for Shiba Inu to reach this milestone.
For context, at a $1 price, Dogecoin would have a market cap of $147 billion, which is a realistic outlook in the current crypto landscape. However, Shiba Inu has a circulating supply of 589 trillion tokens. This means that a $1 unit price for SHIB would result in a valuation of $589 trillion for Shiba Inu.
This figure far exceeds the current global wealth, surpassing not only the valuation of Bitcoin and gold but also all other assets. Given the current market dynamics, it is clear that reaching $1 is far from a realistic expectation for Shiba Inu.
But When Can Shiba Inu Reach $1?
Since the short-term expectation of Shiba Inu reaching $1 is unrealistic due to market cap implications, the question arises: When can SHIB realistically achieve this ambitious threshold?
According to analysts at Telegaon, a prediction portal, it would take until 2050 for Shiba Inu to reach $1, which is 25 years from now.
These analysts also predict that Bitcoin will be worth $2.5 million per coin by 2040, and during this time, they project a Shiba Inu price of $0.054.
Meanwhile, other prediction platforms like CoinCodex and cryptocurrency exchange Changelly do not foresee Shiba Inu reaching $1 in the foreseeable future.
